Butterick B5814 taught me a lot of skills I can’t wait to try again!

From spiral steel boning, to twill tape, to tailor’s tacks– B5814 was a fun challenge! This video goes into my findings after incorporating them into my project and some of the tips for anyone about to take on this dress.

This dress takes patience, time, and a lot of effort in order to complete properly. Before even beginning to sew, I did quite a lot of research into each of the skills mentioned above and thankfully, it all paid off! Perfection comes with practice, however, so I’m looking forward to incorporating what I learned into my next pieces!

If you’re interested in making this piece, definitely check out Gertie’s Blog for Better Sewing, which glosses over some of the basic changes that must be made on the pattern for a better fit.
